2026 Guide: Vietnam Visa Requirements for Russian Passport Holders
Do Russian Citizens Need a Visa for Vietnam?
No, for short stays. As of 2026, Russian citizens are granted a 45-day visa exemption. You can enter Vietnam for tourism or business purposes without a visa, provided your stay does not exceed 45 days, including the dates of entry and exit.
If you plan to stay longer than 45 days, you must apply for an e-visa before your arrival.
Does Any Exemption Apply?
- The 45-day unilateral visa waiver is the main exemption. It is valid for both short-term tourism and business trips.
- The 5-year visa exemption is available to overseas Vietnamese in Russia and their immediate family members.
How to Apply for a Visa?
For stays of more than 45 days, Russian passport holders must apply for a 90-day e-visa through the official portal at evisa.xuatnhapcanh.gov.vn. The online process requires a passport data-page scan and a recent portrait photo.
How Much Does It Cost?
Please refer to the table below for Vietnam visa fees for Russian citizens:
| Visa Type | Visa Fee (USD) |
|---|---|
| 45-Day Visa Exemption | Free |
| E-visa - Single Entry (up to 90 days) | US$25 (~1,974 RUB) |
| E-visa - Multiple Entry (up to 90 days) | US$50 (~3,949 RUB) |
Can I Get a Visa on Arrival at the Airport, or Do I Need to Apply in Advance?
Russian citizens can receive their 45-day visa exemption stamp directly at the airport free of charge. However, if you need a visa for up to 90 days, you must apply for an e-visa in advance. You cannot upgrade from a 45-day visa-free entry stamp to a 90-day visa at the airport.
How Long Does It Take to Get a Vietnam Visa?
The 45-day visa exemption is granted immediately at immigration. If you apply for a 90-day e-visa, the normal processing time is 3 to 5 working days.
How to Get an Emergency Visa for Russian Passports?
If you are a Russian citizen and realize at the last minute that your stay will exceed 45 days, you may apply for an expedited e-visa through a visa agency, which may be processed in as little as 1 to 2 hours.
Do Russian Citizens Need a Transit Visa?
Generally, no. For a simple transit, you remain in the transit area. For self-transfer situations, where you need to exit and re-check your baggage, Russian citizens can usually use their 45-day visa-free entry to clear immigration at no cost.
