My Vietnam e-visa is issued with wrong or incorrect information. What should I do?
In most cases, if your Vietnam e-visa contains incorrect information, you will need to apply for a new visa. The e-visa is issued based on the information submitted in the application, so any important mismatch should be checked carefully.
Below is a guide to the main details shown on the issued e-visa and what they mean in practice.

1. Entry and exit dates
- If your actual travel dates fall within the validity period shown on the e-visa, you do not need to apply for a new visa. You may arrive after the entry date shown and leave on or before the expiry date.
- For example, if your e-visa is valid from 15/03/2026 to 22/03/2026, you may enter Vietnam on 16/03/2026 and leave on 22/03/2026.
- Please note that dates are shown in Vietnam format: DD-MM-YYYY. This can sometimes cause confusion if you are from countries that use a different date format.
2. Single entry or multiple entry
- If your e-visa is issued as a single-entry visa, it can be used for one entry only.
- If you leave Vietnam and intend to enter again, a new visa will be needed unless you already hold a valid multiple-entry visa.
3. Full name
- The full name shown on the e-visa must match the machine-readable lines (ICAO lines) on your passport.
- For example, if your passport contains a middle name in the visual section but the ICAO lines do not show that middle name, this is still be acceptable and applying for a new visa is not necessary.
- However, if the full name on the e-visa does not match the ICAO lines on your passport, you will normally need to apply for a new visa.
4. Date of birth
- The date of birth on the e-visa is also shown in DD-MM-YYYY format. For example, 01/02/1972 means 01 February 1972.
- This should be checked carefully to make sure it has not simply been misread due to the date format.
5. Country or territory of passport
- If you hold more than one passport, you must travel with the same passport that was used for the e-visa application.
- If you travel with a different passport, the e-visa will not match your travel document.
6. Passport number
- The passport number on the e-visa must match your passport exactly.
- If even one letter or number is incorrect, the e-visa is not accepted, and a new application is required.
7. Passport expiry date
- The passport expiry date shown on the e-visa must also match the passport exactly.
- If it does not match, the e-visa will not be accepted. In addition, your passport should remain valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
8. Purpose of entry
- The Vietnam e-visa is used for tourism and short-term business travel.
- If your intended trip does not match the purpose under which the visa was issued, you may need to apply for a different visa type.
9. Port of entry
- The port of entry or exit is currently not printed on the issued e-visa.
- Entering Vietnam through a different port is not a problem, provided that the new port is one of Vietnam’s 83 eligible e-visa entry and exit points. In such cases, a new visa is not required.
10. Notes
Non-Refundable Fees: Be aware that payments for E-Visa applications are non-refundable, meaning you will need to apply and pay again for the new correct E-Visa.
