Vietnam e-Visa Stuck at “In Processing” After 5 Days: When to Worry?

If your Vietnam e-visa status still shows “In Processing” after 5 business days, this does not always mean there is a problem with your application. Although the standard processing time is often stated as 3 working days, some applications take longer due to weekends, public holidays, high application volume, or requests for correction.

This page explains what the status means, what you should check, and when you should take further action.

1. Processing time

Vietnam e-visa applications are often processed in about 3 working days after the application and payment are successfully submitted. However, some applications may take longer. In many cases, 5 to 7 working days is still within a normal waiting period.

Item Information
Standard processing time About 3 working days
Possible longer processing time About 5 to 7 working days
Working days Do not include Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays
Status “In Processing” Your application is still under review

2. Why the status may still show “In Processing”

Your application may still be under processing for several reasons.

Reason Explanation
Weekend or public holiday These days are not counted as working days
Busy period More applications can lead to slower processing
Correction request The immigration system may ask you to update part of the application
Photo or passport issue Unclear images or incorrect details may delay approval

For example, if you submit your application on a Thursday, the next day may count as the first working day, while Saturday and Sunday are not counted. Applications may also take longer during major holidays, including Tet.

Vietnam’s Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday period in 2027 runs from February 03 to February 12, 2027 (with core public holiday dates within that span). Applications submitted right before, during or right after Tet commonly take longer because offices and staffing are affected.

Tip: If your 5th business day falls near Tet week (early-February 2027), it is reasonable to expect significantly longer elapsed time than normal.

3. What you should check

If your visa has not been issued in 5 business days, you should check your application on the official status lookup page (https://evisa.gov.vn/e-visa/search). In some cases, applicants do not realize that an amendment or correction has been requested.

What to check Why it matters
Status on the official portal This shows whether your application is still under review or needs correction
Email inbox and spam folder You may receive a notice or update there
Passport photo and portrait photo Image problems are a common reason for delay
Name and passport details Any mismatch may lead to a correction request

Common reasons for correction requests include:

- Blurry or incorrect passport image

- Blurry or incorrect portrait photo

- Name or passport details entered incorrectly

- Missing or incorrect information in the application form

4. Contacting support

The official portal provides contact email addresses for technical and service support:

5. Should you submit a second application?

In most cases, submitting a second application is not recommended.

- Multiple applications with the same details may create confusion and may delay the case further.

- If your current application is still active, it is often better to continue following that application first.

- In some cases, a third-party agency may be able to assist with expediting your existing e-visa code, so a second application may not be necessary.
