Vietnam Visa Fees and Processing Times
This page provides general information on official government fees and standard processing times for Vietnam visa and immigration services.
The applicable fee and handling time depend on the type of visa or immigration document, the number of entries, the period of validity, and the legal basis for issuance.
For short-term travel, the Vietnam e-visa is the main online visa option. Other visa and immigration services may be processed through the competent immigration authority, a Vietnamese diplomatic mission, or a sponsoring agency or organization, depending on the case.

Working days and how processing time is counted?
Processing times are counted in working days. Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays are not counted as working days.
For e-visa applications, the standard processing time is about 03 working days after the application has been completed and payment has been made.
In practice, the actual waiting time may be longer where the application is submitted close to a weekend or public holiday, or where amendment or additional review is required.
Examples:
- If an application is completed early in the week, the result may arrive within the same week if no amendment is required.
- If an application is completed later in the week, the weekend may shift the result into the following week.
- If an application is submitted before a holiday period, the actual wait may be longer than the standard timeline.
Payment methods
On the official e-visa portal
For e-visa applications, payment is made through the official e-payment gateway on the Vietnam e-visa portal. Supported methods may include international bank cards and other payment channels as follows:
- Apple Pay
- Pay by QR
- ATM Card
- Internet Banking Account
- Visa / Mastercard / JCB / Amex

Through a sponsor or service provider
Most visa agencies in Vietnam accept a wide range of payment methods, including PayPal and major international cards such as Visa and Mastercard.
At the airport or checkpoint
Where payment is required at the airport for visa on arrival, the stamping fee is collected in cash only. Travelers should be prepared to pay in cash, usually in U.S. dollars or Vietnam dong, as card payment and bank transfer are not accepted at the visa on arrival counter.

Refunds
- For e-visa applications, the application fee is non-refundable if the visa is not granted.
- For other visa and immigration services, refunds are governed by the applicable fee regulations and the handling authority. In general, where an applicant has paid an official fee but does not qualify for issuance, or declines to receive the result, the fee is not normally refunded.
Important information
- Processing times are calculated in working days, not calendar days.
- Weekends and public holidays may extend the actual waiting time.
- Official government fees are separate from service fees charged by agents, sponsors, or intermediaries.
- Children under 14 years of age are subject to the official visa fee rule applicable to that category.
- If applying through an embassy, consulate, or sponsor, document requirements and handling time may vary by case.
- For e-visa holders, Vietnam currently permits entry and exit through 83 designated international border gates.
