Can I apply for a new e-Visa while I am currently in Vietnam?
No. If you are currently in Vietnam, you are not eligible for a Vietnam e-visa. Vietnam e-visas are issued only to foreign nationals who are outside Vietnam at the time of application.
Who will be granted an e-visa?
According to the conditions published on the official government website (https://evisa.gov.vn/):
| Condition | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Location of the applicant | The applicant must be outside Vietnam. |
| Passport | The applicant must hold a valid passport or international travel document. |
| Entry conditions | The applicant must not fall under the cases of entry refusal under Article 21 of the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. |
This means that the Immigration office only issues e-visas to applicants who are not physically present in Vietnam.
If you are already in Vietnam
- If you are currently in Vietnam, you cannot apply for a new e-visa from inside the country.
- If an application has already been submitted while you are still in Vietnam, the Immigration Department will reject it. In that case, you are required to provide with your latest exit information (exit stamp) after you leave Vietnam.
